Who We Are

 The goals of the Society are:

1. To celebrate the different cultures and traditions of the world amongst its members

2. To build a well-connected international society at the University of Michigan

3. To represent the collective interests of the international students at the University of Michigan

4. To promote international awareness through the Society’s events and activities.

5. To support international students in their transition into life and education at the University of Michigan.

6. To build lasting relationships and connections for a global experience.

In addition to being an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, a typical member of the Michigan International Students Society may have any of the following attributes: an exceptional interest in international issues and travel, any number of language fluencies, experience living outside of the United States, a pursuit of an international education at Michigan, and a strong cultural awareness and pride. 

MISS has adopted a societal structure for two very simple reasons. Firstly, a society is a group of like-minded individuals governed by their own norms and values in a larger 
community. In addition, one must note that a society requires an adequate amount of involvement, yet is not dominating. Both are intrinsic to the inner workings and success of the Michigan International Students Society.  

The group meets weekly to discuss international issues, plan member-only or campus-wide professional and social events, hold exclusive networking events and career fairs,  host distinguished speakers, present about culture, and much more.
